AI tokens had 3rd highest returns of any category in 3 months — Binance🌐
According to a report by Binance Research, blockchain tokens associated with artificial intelligence (AI) experienced significant gains in the three months leading up to January 2. The report highlighted that AI tokens were the second-best performing category, excluding memecoins, and the third-best performing category when memecoins were included. The data for the report was sourced from a Dune Analytics dashboard by @Cryptokoryo_research.
The report identified six coins as “AI tokens,” namely SingularityNET (AGIX), Cortex (CTXC), Fetch (FET), Ocean Protocol (OCEAN), Oraichain (ORAI), and Render (RNDR). These tokens witnessed a price increase of 185% over the three-month period.
In comparison, DeFi 2.0 tokens saw an 87% increase, GameFi tokens experienced a 109% increase, and Real World Asset (RWA) tokens saw a 145% increase. The only category that outperformed AI tokens was layer-2 tokens, which gained 221%. The researchers excluded memecoins from their analysis due to their relatively lower market capitalization, which resulted in disproportionate percentage gains.
AI tokens also outperformed major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum over the course of the year. Bitcoin ended the year with a 150% increase, while Ethereum gained 44%. In contrast, the researchers noted that the one-year performance of AI tokens ranged from 200% to as high as 650%.
Among the group of AI coins, Fetch emerged as the top performer in 2023, with a price increase of 659% for the year. Fetch is a blockchain network that operates AI programs called “Agents” and features an AI services marketplace. SingularityNET followed closely with a 616% gain for the year. SingularityNET provides an AI services marketplace on the Ethereum network, with plans to expand to other networks.
Other notable AI token gains included Ocean Protocol, which gained 215%, and Bittensor (TAO), which saw a 191% increase.
Some experts have predicted that blockchain-based decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN) and AI will form a strong partnership in 2024, becoming a powerful combination.
